Nearly 260 independent housing authorities manage local demands for public housing. While under the same rules and regulations, each agency has developed its own procedures to manage the demand for and supply of public housing. It is highly impractical to ascertain the actual demand for public housing or wait times for such help. From largest to the smallest of such housing authorities, complexities of the law and related regulations, further complicate the sizing of housing problems within their respective communities and across the State.
